Abstract submission guidelines

Please ensure that you have registered first and received your reference code before you proceed with the abstract submission. Please prepare your abstract using the abstract example/template provided below and follow the instructions outlined on this page.
Please note that WCRF International encourages full disclosure of all relevant sources of funding in relation to abstracts submitted to this conference. If you wish to disclose a conflict of interest or any funding, please do so briefly at the foot of the abstract as shown.

Instructions for preparation of abstracts and abstract example
Registration details
Please enter your name and registration booking reference – this is the reference number within the registration confirmation email.
Abstract Title
Arial 10 font bold, left aligned; the title should be in sentence case with no full stop at the end.
For Example:
Vitamin D and cancer
Author Names
Arial 10 font. Surname, initials. Presenting author to be bold, affiliations numbered in superscript. If there are more than six authors, please provide the names of the first six authors (co-authors and first author) followed by et al.
For Example:
Smith, B1, Harrison, N2, Matthews, P 2 Smith, A1, Harrison, A2, Matthews, W 2, et al.

Abstract text
- Arial 10 font
- Abstracts must be saved as a Word document
- Maximum word limit is 250 words. Abstracts that exceed this word limit will be disqualified for peer review
- Abstracts should be structured under the following headings: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions
- Abstracts should refer to work that has not been published. If work is still in progress at the time of submission then preliminary findings should be provided
- Please use single line spacing, text unjustified
- Symbols and other special characters may be included
- SI units should be used throughout (litre and molar are permitted, however)
- Abbreviations should be defined when first used – place any abbreviation in parenthesis after the full word appears for the first time
- Tables and figures should not be included in the abstract

Referencing
- References are not compulsory but if references are used, they will count towards the total word count for the abstract

Web links (URLs) should be provided in full, including both the title of the site and the URL, in the following format:
http://www-dep.iarc.fr/globocan/database.htm
- Only papers that have been published, or are in press, or are available through public e-print/preprint servers should be included in the reference list
